Hypnotherapy in Salisbury

I use hypnotherapy as this therapy allows patients to relax deeply so that a trance state can be reached.  It is a natural state of mind that is entered without realising – as in daydreaming, or when driving along a familiar route and when reaching the destination unaware of some part of the journey.  The conscious mind has “switched off, ” allowing the subconscious to take over.  This is what happens in a trance state, and there is nothing to be concerned about as the subconscious (or inner mind) works for you and allows helpful, positive suggestions to be passed to your conscious mind when out of hypnosis.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

I use this treatment where any patient has suffered from past traumas or upsetting experiences.  It has been the most researched psychotherapy since its inception by Francine Shapiro in 1987.  It is now used worldwide and has been shown to be very effective in the treatment of trauma, as well as phobic and emotional conditions.  More recently it has been used to enhance performance in the field of sport, music and theatre, as well as enhancing creativity.  By the use of bilateral movements (alternating eye movement as well as tactile and auditory stimulation) negative thoughts are removed from consciousness and replaced with positive ones.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

This treatment is growing in popularity as an efficient and long-lasting therapy for many different types of behavioural and emotional problems.  However, the traditional treatment of CBT (depending on the individual and the presenting problem) can require a large number of sessions, sometimes taking several months.  I use this therapy together with hypnosis.  I find that this integrated approach is very successful for the treatment of behavioural and emotional disorders.  The positive benefits are much quicker when this joint approach is used.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

‘Neuro’ refers to the brain, ‘linguistic’ to language, and ‘programming’ to reconditioning (viewing things in a different light).  NLP is the process by which subjective change occurs through the use of language and brain reconditioning.  It can be described as an individual’s subjective experience.  Negative, limiting, unhelpful thoughts and processes are changed into positive, helpful cognitions, thus resolving problems quickly and easily.  I use NLP to aid in planning and organisation, enabling individuals to plan accordingly for any desired outcome so that you “do what you want to do when you want to do it”.
